  • 21 ounces apple pie filling Canned apple pie filling works perfectly.
  • 1 can refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Optional for extra flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  2. Open the refrigerated crescent rolls and cut the dough into 12 to 14 equal pieces.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, stir the apple pie filling and crescent roll pieces together. Add cinnamon if desired.
  4. Pour the mixture into a 2-quart casserole dish, spreading it evenly with crescent pieces mainly on top.
Cooking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes. Flip crescent pieces at the 15-minute mark for even browning.
  2. Check for doneness until the crescent pieces are golden brown and fully cooked.
  3. Let the dumplings sit for a couple of minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of cream. Leftovers can be stored covered in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for 2 months.
