Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a 9x13-inch baking pan by coating it with cooking spray or butter.
- Mash about two and a half bananas in the pan and spread evenly across the bottom.
- Slice the remaining bananas into rounds and scatter them over the mashed layer.
- Pour the whole milk evenly over the banana layers.
- If using nuts, sprinkle them on top.
- Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the banana and milk layers without stirring.
- Slice the cold butter into pats and distribute them evenly on top of the dry cake mix.
- In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle over the butter.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 55 minutes, until the top is golden brown and bubbling around the edges.
- Let the cake cool in the pan on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce. The cake can be customized with chocolate chips or coconut, and variations include lighter or gluten-free options.
