  • 4 medium Ripe bananas Choose bananas with a few brown speckles for sweetness.
  • 2 cups Vanilla ice cream About 4 to 6 scoops.
  • 2 cups Banana pudding, prepared Use instant pudding mix prepared according to package directions, or make from scratch.
  • 1 cup Vanilla wafers, crushed Crush just before serving to maintain crunch.
  • 1 cup Whipped cream Store-bought or homemade works fine.
  • 1/4 cup Caramel sauce For drizzling.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Slice the bananas lengthwise down the middle and place each half cut side up in individual serving dishes.
  2. Scoop generous amounts of vanilla ice cream onto the banana halves.
  3. Spoon prepared banana pudding over the ice cream and banana layers.
  4. Sprinkle crushed vanilla wafers on top of the pudding.
  5. Add a dollop of whipped cream on top of each boat.
  6. Drizzle caramel sauce over the whipped cream and serve immediately.

Notes

For the best results, assemble these right before serving as they don't hold up well made in advance. Customize toppings with nuts or chocolate chips as desired.
