  • 1 cup Brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup Heavy cream
  • 2 cups Powdered sugar

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by preheating your oven to 350°F. Spray a 9x13-inch pan with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Combine the white cake mix, granulated sugar, all-purpose flour, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, buttermilk, and sour cream into the bowl and mix.
  4. Beat everything together for about one minute until the batter is smooth.
  5. Swirl a portion of caramel sauce into the batter and pour it into the prepared pan.
  6. Drizzle remaining caramel sauce over the top and swirl gently.
Baking
  1. Bake for 36 to 39 minutes, checking doneness with a toothpick.
  2. Let the cake cool completely before icing.
Making the Icing
  1. Melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring frequently.
  2. Pour in heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer, then remove from heat.
  3. Whisk in powdered sugar gradually until smooth.
  4. Immediately pour the icing over the cooled cake and let it set.

Notes

For a salted caramel twist, sprinkle flaky sea salt over the icing. Serve at room temperature, and for best results, slice with a warm knife.
