Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 4 pieces Peaches, large and ripe Use ripe peaches for best texture and flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh lemon juice To keep the flesh from browning.
  • 3 tablespoons Unsalted butter Melt it low and slow.
For the caramel syrup
  • 1/2 cup Light brown sugar, packed Provides the caramel flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground cinnamon Adds warmth and flavor.
  • a pinch Salt Balances sweetness.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla extract (optional) For added flavor.
  • a pinch Ground nutmeg (optional) For an additional layer of spice.

Method

Preparation
  1. Wash the peaches, slice each in half, and remove the pit, then cut each half into three or four wedges.
  2. Toss the peach wedges in a bowl with the lemon juice to prevent browning.
  3. Set the bowl aside for a few minutes.
Cooking
  1. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat until fully melted and foaming.
  2. Add the brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt, whisking continuously until dissolved and the mixture thickens into a glossy syrup.
  3. Add the peach wedges to the caramel syrup in a single layer, cut side down, and cook undisturbed for 3-4 minutes.
  4. Flip the peaches and cook for another 3-4 minutes until caramelized.
Serving
  1. Turn off the heat, spoon extra syrup over the peaches, and serve warm.

Notes

Use ripe peaches for the best flavor and texture. Don't crowd the skillet to avoid steaming instead of caramelizing. Serve immediately as syrup thickens when cooled.
