Ingredients
  

For the crumble base and topping
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted Let cool slightly before mixing.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
For the cherry filling
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen cherries, pitted Thaw and drain excess liquid if using frozen.
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar Adjust based on fruit sweetness.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a 9×9-inch baking pan thoroughly.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, melted butter, and salt. Stir until crumbly with no dry pockets of flour.
  3. Measure out half of the crumble mixture and press it firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the pitted cherries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice. Stir until evenly coated.
  5. Spoon the cherry mixture over the pressed crust and sprinkle the remaining crumble mixture over the top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly around the edges.
  2. Let the bars cool in the pan for at least 30 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Store bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They freeze well. Reheat gently before serving.
