Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 pounds country-style pork ribs Beef can be used as an alternative.
  • 1.5 cups your favorite BBQ sauce
  • 6 ounces Dr Pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chile powder Adjusted to taste. New Mexico chile powder is recommended.
  • Salt and pepper To taste.

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by giving the inside of your slow cooker a light coat of nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Lay the country-style ribs into the crockpot in a single, even layer if possible. Sprinkle salt, pepper, and the chile powder directly over the meat, and rub the seasoning into every side of the ribs.
  3. Pour the BBQ sauce evenly over the seasoned ribs, ensuring most pieces are covered. Then, pour the Dr Pepper into the crockpot without stirring.
  4. Cover the crockpot with its lid and set it to low for 8 hours, or high for 4 hours.
  5. Once done, shred the ribs with two forks right in the crockpot to soak up more sauce and serve on a plate with extra sauce drizzled on top.

Notes

For best results, trim excess fat before cooking, layer ribs evenly, skim sauce before serving if it looks thin, and let ribs rest five minutes before shredding.
