Preparation
- Pit the Medjool dates if they are not already pitted. Roughly chop them to help them blend easier.
- If dates are dry, soak them in warm water for 10-15 minutes, then drain and pat dry.
Blending
- Add the chopped dates into the blender first, followed by 1 cup of milk.
- Scoop in 3 cups of vanilla ice cream, add 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and a pinch of sea salt. Add cinnamon if desired.
- Blend on high speed for 60 to 90 seconds until smooth.
- Stop to scrape down the sides of the blender and blend again for another 20 to 30 seconds.
Finishing Touches
- Taste and adjust sweetness by adding more dates or milk as needed.
- Pour the shake into two tall glasses.
- Top with whipped cream, cinnamon, date pieces, or a drizzle of honey if desired.
Notes
For an even thicker shake, use frozen dates or freeze the glasses before serving. Can swap ice cream for a dairy-free alternative.
