French Silk Brownies

Ingredients
  

For the Brownie Base
  • 1 box Boxed brownie mix (unprepared) Use any brand of boxed brownie mix you prefer.
  • 1 large Egg Large egg for best results.
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter, melted Melted for easy mixing.
  • 1/4 cup Milk Use whole milk for richer flavor.
For the French Silk Layer
  • 8 ounces Cream cheese, softened Ensure it's softened for easy mixing.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract Pure vanilla extract is recommended.
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar Sifted for smoother mixture.
  • 8 ounces Semi-sweet chocolate Chopped or chocolate chips work.
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter, cubed Cubed for easy melting.
  • 8 ounces Cool Whip Thawed for use.
For the Topping
  • 8 ounces Cool Whip Remaining whipped topping.
  • 1/4 cup Chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips For garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease an 11×7-inch glass baking dish with non-stick spray.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine brownie mix, egg, melted butter, and milk. Stir until the batter is smooth with no dry streaks.
  3. Spread the batter evenly into your prepared dish and bake for 25 to 28 minutes, checking with a toothpick near the center.
  4. Let the brownies cool completely to room temperature.
Cream Cheese Layer
  1. In a large bowl, beat softened cream cheese with vanilla extract until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar and mix until creamy.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt semi-sweet chocolate and cubed butter together in 30-second bursts, stirring in between until glossy.
  3. Add melted chocolate mixture to cream cheese base and mix until fully incorporated. Fold in Cool Whip gently.
Assembly and Chilling
  1. Spread the French silk filling evenly over the cooled brownie base. Top with remaining Cool Whip and smooth out.
  2. Sprinkle with chocolate shavings or mini chips, if desired. Chill for at least two hours before slicing.
Serving
  1. Slice using a sharp knife and serve chilled for best texture.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Freezing slices works for up to 2 months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight.
