  • 2 cups neutral oil Canola or vegetable oil recommended.

  1. Wash the banana peppers thoroughly under cool water, then pat them dry.
  2. Slice each pepper in half lengthwise, scoop out seeds and membranes if desired, then cut each half into thin strips.
Batter Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Gradually pour in cold water while whisking until smooth.
  3. For additional flavor, consider adding garlic powder, smoked paprika, or cayenne.
Frying
  1. Heat the neutral oil in a heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F-375°F.
  2. Dip each pepper strip into the batter, ensuring even coating, and let excess drip off.
  3. Fry in small batches for 2-4 minutes until golden brown, flipping for even cooking.
  4. Transfer finished fries to a wire rack or paper towel-lined plate.
