Preparation
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
- Add 1 chopped medium onion and 2 minced cloves of garlic. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes until the onion is soft and translucent.
- Add 1 pound of ground beef and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, breaking it apart until fully browned.
- Remove excess fat if necessary.
- Sprinkle 1/4 cup of flour over the beef mixture and stir for 1 to 2 minutes until the flour is cooked.
- Slowly pour in 1 cup of beef broth while stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
- Stir in 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce and 1 tablespoon soy sauce. Bring to a gentle simmer.
- Add 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1/2 teaspoon of paprika. Adjust seasoning if needed.
- Let simmer uncovered for 5 to 10 minutes until thickened, stirring occasionally.
- Serve the ground beef and gravy over 2 cups of prepared mashed potatoes.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. This dish freezes well for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating.
