Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 425°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Arrange the tater tots in a single layer across the prepared baking sheet.
- While the tots bake, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the ground beef and cook until no pink remains, breaking it apart with a spatula.
Cooking
- Stir in the taco seasoning and a quarter cup of water into the cooked beef, then let it simmer until the liquid absorbs.
- Bake the tater tots for 28 to 30 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Spread the cooked ground beef over the baked tater tots, then sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
- Slide the baking sheet back into the oven for about 5 minutes until the cheese melts.
- Remove from the oven and add your desired toppings, such as salsa, shredded lettuce, and pickled jalapenos.
- Serve immediately while hot and crispy.
