Method
Preparation
- Peel and devein the shrimp if not already done. Dry each shrimp thoroughly with paper towels.
- Season the shrimp lightly with salt and black pepper.
- In one bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs until smooth.
Frying
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Coat each shrimp first in the egg then in the flour-cornstarch mixture.
- Fry the shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden and cooked through. Remove to a wire rack.
Making the Sauce
- In a separate pan, melt butter and add minced garlic, cooking until fragrant.
- Add honey, heavy cream, sriracha, soy sauce, and lime juice, and simmer until thickened.
Serving
- Toss the fried shrimp in the sauce and serve immediately garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.
- Serve over steamed rice or in lettuce cups.
Notes
Ensure shrimp is fully dry before frying for optimal crispiness. Serve immediately as it does not hold well once sauced.
