- In a medium saucepan, bring 3 cups of water and 1 teaspoon of salt to a boil.
- Slowly whisk in the coarse ground grits, reducing the heat to low and stirring occasionally until creamy, about 5 minutes.
Combining Ingredients
- Stir in the melted butter, sour cream, creamed corn, and beaten eggs into the cooked grits.
- Gently fold in the bacon and sausage mixture, along with 1 cup of shredded cheese.
Assembly and Baking
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
- Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheese over the top and bake uncovered for 35 to 40 minutes until golden brown.
- Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

For best results, let the casserole rest before slicing. You can also prepare it the night before and bake it fresh in the morning.
