Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your cake pans generously with butter or cooking spray and line pan bottoms with parchment paper.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl and set aside.
Making the Cake
- Beat softened butter on medium speed for 2 minutes until fluffy.
- Gradually add sugar and cream together for 4-5 minutes until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then beat in vanilla extract.
- Add flour mixture and milk alternately, starting and ending with flour.
- Divide batter evenly between prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
Cooling and Frosting
- Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then invert onto cooling racks.
- Prepare the frosting by beating softened butter until fluffy, then gradually add powdered sugar, cream, vanilla, and salt.
- Frost layers and decorate as desired.
Notes
For best results, allow cakes to cool completely before frosting. Store the cake at room temperature for 2-3 days or tightly wrapped in the freezer for up to 3 months.
