Preparation
- In a mixing bowl, combine the orange Jell-O powder with the orange juice. Stir continuously until the Jell-O granules fully dissolve.
- Set the bowl aside and let the mixture cool for about 10 minutes at room temperature.
- In a separate bowl, beat the cold heavy whipping cream with an electric mixer until soft peaks begin to form.
- Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, then continue whipping until stiff peaks form.
Mixing the Filling
- Once the Jell-O mixture has cooled, gently fold the whipped cream into it using a rubber spatula.
- Sprinkle the mini marshmallows and orange zest into the bowl and fold them in gently until evenly distributed.
Assembly and Chilling
- Pour the orange filling into the graham cracker crust, smoothing the top into an even layer.
- Refrigerate the pie for at least 4 hours to allow it to set.
Serving
- Once fully chilled, garnish the pie with additional whipped cream or fresh orange slices if desired. Slice and serve immediately.
Notes
For the best results, cool the Jell-O before combining with whipped cream. Avoid overwhipping the cream to maintain fluffiness.
