Ingredients
  

For the Burger Patties
  • 1 lb 1 pound (450g) ground beef, 80/20 fat ratio recommended Use 80/20 ground beef for juicy patties.
  • 1 tsp 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tsp 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tsp 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 tsp 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
For the Pizza Toppings
  • 1/2 cup 1/2 cup (120ml) marinara sauce or pizza sauce A jarred marinara works well.
  • 1 cup 1 cup (100g) shredded mozzarella cheese Block mozzarella yields a smoother melt.
  • 16 slices 16 slices pepperoni (4 slices per burger)
  • 1/2 cup 1/2 cup (50g) sliced mushrooms, optional
  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup (30g) sliced black olives, optional
  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup (25g) sliced green bell pepper, optional
For Assembly
  • 4 pieces 4 brioche or sesame seed burger buns
  • 2 tbsp 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened For toasting the buns.
  • to taste Fresh basil leaves for garnish, optional

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Season and shape the patties by mixing the ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Divide and form the beef into four equal patties, making a shallow indent with your thumb in the center.
  3. Refrigerate the patties for 5-10 minutes.
Toppings Preparation
  1. Prep your pizza toppings by slicing mushrooms, bell peppers, and olives as needed, and measure out the marinara sauce.
  2. Toast burger buns with butter in a skillet on medium heat until golden.
Cooking the Patties
  1. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the patties without disturbance for 3-4 minutes until browned.
  2. Flip the patties and cook for another 3-4 minutes, adding marinara sauce and other toppings.
  3. Cover with a lid to melt the cheese for 1-2 minutes.
Assembly
  1. Assemble the burgers by placing the cooked patties on the toasted buns and adding fresh basil if desired. Serve hot.

Notes

Serve immediately for best texture. Use 80/20 ground beef for juicy patties. Toast buns to avoid sogginess.
