Ingredients
Method
Preparation
- Lay out all 4 slices of bread on a flat surface.
- In a small bowl, mix 4 tablespoons of softened butter with 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder until fully combined.
- Spread the garlic butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
- Sprinkle a pinch of grated parmesan cheese onto the buttered side of each slice.
Build the Sandwich
- Flip the bread slices so the buttered side faces down.
- Spread 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce on the inner side of two slices.
- Layer half the mozzarella evenly over the sauce on each sauced slice.
- Add 8 slices of pepperoni on top of the mozzarella on each sandwich.
- Sprinkle provolone over the pepperoni.
- Dust with 1/4 teaspoon of Italian seasoning and sprinkle red pepper flakes if using.
- Place the remaining two slices of bread on top, buttered side up.
Cooking
- Heat a skillet over medium-low heat.
- Carefully place the sandwiches in the pan and cook for 4 to 5 minutes until golden brown.
- Flip the sandwiches and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes until cheese is melted.
- Let the sandwiches rest for 1 to 2 minutes before slicing diagonally.
Notes
Use room-temperature butter for easy spreading. Avoid overloading the sauce to prevent sogginess. Covering the pan can help with cheese melting.
