Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Optional Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar optional
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese optional

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C).
  2. Trim and halve the Brussels sprouts. Cut off the tough stem end and peel away any loose or yellowing leaves.
  3. Transfer the halved sprouts into a large mixing bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Toss until evenly coated.
  4. Spread the seasoned sprouts in a single layer on a baking sheet, cut-side down.
Cooking
  1. Roast in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, shaking the pan halfway through to promote even browning.
  2. Check for doneness around the 18-minute mark; look for deep golden-brown edges.
  3. Optionally, drizzle with balsamic vinegar and sprinkle with parmesan cheese before serving.

Notes

For the best results, cut the sprouts to a uniform size and avoid overcrowding the baking sheet. Parchment paper can be used to facilitate cleanup.
