Preparation
- Step 1: Thaw the Shrimp Properly. Remove your frozen shrimp from its packaging and place it in a medium bowl. Cover completely with cool water, letting it sit right on the counter while it gradually thaws. Change the water every thirty minutes to speed the process along.
- Step 2: Drain and Chill the Shrimp. Once fully thawed, drain the shrimp in a colander and pat them dry gently with a paper towel. Transfer the shrimp to the refrigerator while you prep everything else.
- Step 3: Chop Your Red Onion and Celery. Finely chop the red onion and dice the celery rib into small, even pieces.
- Step 4: Whisk Together the Creamy Dressing. In a large mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, lemon juice, and lemon zest. Add the chopped dill, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, kosher salt, and black pepper, and whisk until smooth.
- Step 5: Fold In the Onion and Celery. Add the chopped red onion and diced celery to the dressing bowl and stir gently.
- Step 6: Fold In the Shrimp Gently. Once the shrimp are fully chilled, add them to the dressing mixture and fold everything together gently.
- Step 7: Chill and Serve. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the shrimp salad for at least thirty minutes before serving.
Notes
Thaw shrimp overnight in the fridge if you have time. Pat shrimp dry before mixing to avoid a watery dressing. Chill the finished salad for best flavor.
