Soft Batch Chocolate M&M Cookies

Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened natural cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons whole milk
Additions
  • 1 1/2 cups milk chocolate M&Ms
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup M&Ms, for garnish
  • 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, for garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F and line your baking sheets with parchment paper, lightly greasing them.
Mix Dry Ingredients
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
Melt Chocolate
  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips and chopped butter together in short 20-second bursts, stirring in between until smooth.
Combine Wet Ingredients
  1. Once cooled slightly, whisk in the vanilla extract.
  2. Add granulated and brown sugar, mixing until glossy.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.
  4. Stir in the whole milk until fully incorporated.
Combine Mixtures
  1. Add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  2. Gently fold in the M&Ms and chocolate chips, ensuring not to crush them.
Bake
  1. Scoop dough onto prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each.
  2. Bake for 16 to 18 minutes, checking for set edges and soft centers.
  3. While warm, press extra M&Ms and chocolate chips onto cookies.
Cooling
  1. Let cookies cool completely before moving to avoid fragility.

Notes

Serve slightly warm for extra gooeyness. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days, refrigerate for up to 10 days, or freeze for 2 months. Warm in the microwave before eating.
