Method
Preparation
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese with the powdered sugar. Blend until smooth.
- Stir in vanilla extract if using, then taste and adjust sweetness with more powdered sugar if necessary.
Filling and Folding
- Lay out four or five wonton wrappers on a clean surface and keep the rest covered.
- Fill a small bowl with water for sealing.
- Place about half a teaspoon of filling in the center of each wonton wrapper.
- Wet the edges of the wrapper with your fingertip and fold it diagonally to form a triangle, sealing tightly.
Cooking
- Choose your cooking method: Frying, Baking, or Air Frying.
- For Frying: Heat 2 to 3 inches of oil in a Dutch oven to under 350°F. Fry wontons for about 45 seconds to 1 minute until golden brown.
- For Baking: Preheat oven to 375°F, spray a baking sheet, and bake for 10 to 12 minutes until golden.
- For Air Frying: Brush wontons with oil, then air fry at 370°F for 7 to 8 minutes.
Notes
Store cooked wontons in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days or freeze uncooked. Reheat in an air fryer for best results.
