Ingredients
  

For the Filling
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened Bring to room temperature for smoother mixing.
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar Taste and adjust sweetness as needed.
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract Optional, adds depth of flavor.
For the Wrapping
  • 20 pieces wonton wrappers Keep covered with a damp towel to prevent drying.
  • 1 large egg, whisked with 1 tablespoon water Used for sealing the wontons.
  • 2 to 3 inches canola oil For frying; can substitute with vegetable oil.
  • Nonstick cooking spray Nonstick cooking spray For baking method.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese with the powdered sugar. Blend until smooth.
  2. Stir in vanilla extract if using, then taste and adjust sweetness with more powdered sugar if necessary.
Filling and Folding
  1. Lay out four or five wonton wrappers on a clean surface and keep the rest covered.
  2. Fill a small bowl with water for sealing.
  3. Place about half a teaspoon of filling in the center of each wonton wrapper.
  4. Wet the edges of the wrapper with your fingertip and fold it diagonally to form a triangle, sealing tightly.
Cooking
  1. Choose your cooking method: Frying, Baking, or Air Frying.
  2. For Frying: Heat 2 to 3 inches of oil in a Dutch oven to under 350°F. Fry wontons for about 45 seconds to 1 minute until golden brown.
  3. For Baking: Preheat oven to 375°F, spray a baking sheet, and bake for 10 to 12 minutes until golden.
  4. For Air Frying: Brush wontons with oil, then air fry at 370°F for 7 to 8 minutes.

Notes

Store cooked wontons in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days or freeze uncooked. Reheat in an air fryer for best results.
